The Heart of Summer

Dear Client,

As we step into the heart of summer, we wanted to take a moment to reach out with some thoughts about the month of July—a time that carries both warmth and complexity.

July often invites us into sunshine, vacations, family gatherings, and longer days. On the surface, it seems like a season made for rest and fun. But underneath, it can stir up other feelings too—discomfort in stillness, pressure to be happy, or old memories brought back by familiar summer scents and songs.

If you're feeling joyful, we choose to celebrate that with you. If you’re feeling off, anxious, lonely, or heavy—even when everyone else seems to be enjoying themselves—we want you to know that’s okay, too. Emotions don’t follow the calendar. And healing isn’t paused just because the weather is warm.

Here are a few gentle reminders for July:

1. You’re Allowed to Slow Down
The world moves fast. But you don’t have to. Whether you’re taking a vacation or simply trying to breathe more deeply, remember that slowing down is not laziness—it’s an act of care.

2. Check In With Yourself
The middle of the year is a good time to ask: How am I really doing? What’s working for me? What’s draining me? You don’t need to make drastic changes—just small, honest check-ins with your emotional self.

3. Rest Is Part of the Work
Rest is not separate from growth—it’s part of it. July may be a good time to unplug, take naps, spend time in nature, or say no without guilt. Your nervous system will thank you.

4. You’re Not Behind
Whatever pace you're moving at in your personal work or your goals—it’s valid. There’s no schedule you must follow for healing, learning, or becoming.

5. You Are Not Alone
Whether you're in regular sessions or taking a summer break from therapy, please know that the work we've done together continues to live in you. Your growth, your insights, your capacity to cope and care—all of it is still here, evolving with you.

As your therapists, we see your effort. We respect your pace. And we’re honored to walk with you—no matter the season.

Wishing you a July that holds both peace and possibility.

Warmly,
HMHCC
