Kelly Maher, LAC
““Not all who wander are lost.” -J.R.R. Tolkien
Education & Background
Kelly (she/her) is a Licensed Associate Counselor with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montclair State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Filmmaking and Video Production from Drexel University. Kelly’s unique background as a filmmaker and creative granted her exposure and experience working with a wide array of characters -both literally and figuratively. She specializes in helping women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, ADHD, anxiety, life transitions, and grief. Please don’t be discouraged if you’re not represented on that list. If Kelly can’t help you, she looks forward to connecting you with someone who can.
Kelly believes that our lives are often defined by the stories we tell ourselves, and that stories are journeys. As you start down the road of healing, growth, and expansion, sometimes taking that first step is the most difficult, but the best news is, you don’t have to do it alone. Kelly wants to join you on your journey and help you see where your path leads.
Approach
Kelly primarily utilizes Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solutions-Focused techniques which means she helps you discover meaningful change by providing a safe space, building on strengths and skills you already possess, helping you recognize your true self, and collaborating on finding grounded solutions to your issues. With her, you can expect sessions that don’t feel clinical, but warm; a safe place for self-exploration, support, curiosity, and hopefully even a few laughs along the way. Across culture, identity, and ability, no issue is too small, no struggle unworthy of help. Kelly believes that you are the expert in your own life and she wants to help you find ways to make things easier, make more sense, and feel less heavy by providing creative, affirming, and compassionate care. Life may not always get easier, but we can always adapt. Let’s do it together!
