Lisa Frank, LAC
Education & Background
Lisa is a Nationally Board‑Certified, Licensed Associate Counselor with over 20 years of experience in the nursing profession, including more than five years in leadership roles. She holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and a Master’s degree in Nursing Leadership and Management, as well as Critical Care certification. Lisa’s counseling practice is deeply informed by her nursing career and her admiration for service‑driven professions such as nurses and first responders—individuals who routinely place the needs of others above their own. This foundation shapes her therapeutic approach, which emphasizes empathy, compassion, and resilience while honoring the strength it takes to ask for support.
She approaches each client holistically, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical health, mental well‑being, and life experiences. Lisa strives to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and empowered.
Her clinical experience includes working with individuals facing trauma, chronic mental illness, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression and interpersonal relationship challenges. She has experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and walks of life and believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a meaningful and fulfilling life aligned with their personal values.
Approach
Lisa approaches counseling with the belief that each individual is unique and deserving of acceptance, respect, and understanding. She is committed to honoring clients for who they are while fostering a therapeutic environment grounded in compassion, empathy, and psychological safety. From the initial encounter, Lisa focuses on building a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship that supports openness, trust, and meaningful engagement in the counseling process.
Her clinical approach is rooted in person‑centered theory, viewing the counselor not as the authority on a client’s problems, but as a compassionate facilitator who supports clients in exploring their own emotions, behaviors, and paths toward change. Lisa integrates evidence‑based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to address maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to enhance emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Through this integrative approach, she works collaboratively with clients to promote self‑awareness, resilience, and sustainable personal growth.
