Matthew Jacobs SW Intern
Education & Background
Matt Jacobs (he/him) is an aspiring social worker currently pursuing his Master of Social Work (MSW) at Rutgers University. Prior to graduate school, he volunteered as a hotline crisis counselor, providing support to LGBTQ+ and HIV-affected survivors of violence. Matt has experience working with diverse client populations across all ages and genders. Most recently, he completed a school social work internship, where he gained hands-on experience working with adolescent students and their families.
Approach
As a queer, transgender man, he is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and affirming therapeutic environment where clients can explore their identities, reflect on their experiences, grow through self-discovery, and heal from trauma. He brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and is passionate about creating a space that honors each person's perspective, fosters resilience, and empowers clients to live authentically. Matt is a current member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
