Pride
Dear Clients and Community,
June is Pride Month — a time to celebrate the beauty, resilience, and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. It’s also a time to reflect on the importance of visibility, acceptance, and healing.
As therapists, we want to take this moment to affirm every client who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, or anywhere along the spectrum of gender and sexuality. You deserve to feel safe, seen, and supported — not just during Pride, but every day of the year.
For some, Pride is about joy, identity, and community. For others, it can bring up grief, fear, or reminders of rejection and trauma. Pride can be colorful and loud — or quiet and personal. However you experience this month, know that your story is valid.
Pride was born from protest and the demand for basic rights and dignity. It’s a reminder that being yourself in a world that hasn’t always made room for you is an act of courage. And it’s also a celebration of love, liberation, and chosen family.
Members of the LGBTQIA+ community are at a higher risk of mental health challenges due to societal stigma, discrimination, and sometimes even rejection from family or faith communities. And yet, LGBTQIA+ individuals continue to show remarkable strength and resilience.
In this practice, you are welcome exactly as you are. There is no need to explain or defend your identity here. Whether you’re questioning, transitioning, coming out, processing relationships, or healing from harm — this is your space to be fully you.
Therapy can be a place to:
Explore your identity without fear of judgment
Build resilience and self-worth
Unlearn internalized shame
Strengthen relationships
Learn to set boundaries with love and clarity
Heal from religious or cultural trauma
You inspire us. Your vulnerability, authenticity, and bravery in facing life’s challenges — especially in a world that hasn’t always embraced you — are nothing short of extraordinary. We’re honored to walk with you on your journey.
This Pride Month, may you find moments of joy. May you feel affirmed in your truth. May you continue to grow into the wholeness that has always been yours.
With Love,
HMHCC
